Domains
Transfer a domain in
Moving a domain you already own into Expanse Panel using the auth code (EPP code) from your current registrar.
Transfer a domain in
Use Networking → Transfer Domain when the domain is registered at another company and you want Expanse to become the registrar.
What you need
- The domain name (for example
example.com). - The auth code from your current registrar. In the panel this is labeled Auth code (EPP code)—it is the same one-word or multi-character code your old registrar calls an EPP code, transfer code, or authorization code.
- A registrant contact on file (create and verify under Registrant contacts if prompted).
Steps
- Unlock the domain and disable privacy/proxy at the losing registrar if their policy requires it to see the code or complete transfer.
- Request the auth code from the losing registrar; copy it exactly.
- In Expanse Panel, open Transfer Domain, enter the domain and the auth code, then follow checkout.
What happens after you order
- The transfer follows registry rules (often several days). Your domain may stay at the old registrar until the transfer completes.
- After the transfer completes, the domain appears in your Networking list like a registered domain, and you can point nameservers and edit DNS here.
- Until the service is active, use Networking → Registrant contacts if you need to fix contact validation and use Retry on failed provisioning when shown.
Transfers are billed as their own order type in the panel; see checkout for the amount for your extension—this article does not quote fixed prices.
