Team
Team roles
What owner, admin, member, and biller mean in Expanse Panel, and how roles affect billing and infrastructure access.
Team roles
Each person on a team has a role. The role is not a “rank” in a game; it is a permission preset so you can run a real organization safely: the finance person is not forced to be a system administrator, and your moderators are not able to read card numbers (unless a role explicitly allows something similar for billing, which is separate from the card itself).
The usual roles (names may be capitalized in the product)
-
Owner
- Broad access to the team, including the most sensitive actions (exact list depends on the product and policy).
- Often the only role that can move ownership or delete the team in some setups.
- Should keep 2FA on their account. See Two-factor authentication (2FA).
-
Admin
- Can do most day-to-day work on services and many settings.
- May not have full billing or ownership powers—check the in-panel help or ask support if a button is missing.
-
Member
- Can work with many infrastructure and game features as configured.
- Usually not a billing role. If “Pay invoice” is missing, your role is the first thing to check.
-
Biller
- Focused on invoices, balance, and payment flows.
- In many products, a biller is not expected to reconfigure all game and VPS settings—resource work stays with other roles. If something seems blocked, that split is often intentional. See the panel’s own sidebar: Billing is separate from the rest for a reason.
Quick reference
| Need to… | Who usually can |
|---|---|
| Pay invoices, top up balance | Owner, Biller (and sometimes Admin depending on product) |
| Order new services | Owner, Admin, Member (as allowed by the product) |
| Change DNS for the team’s domain | Owner, Admin, Member if their role is allowed in Domains |
| Invite a friend | Often Owner or Admin; follow the in-panel “Invite” button |
Changing roles
- Owners (or the panel’s “manage members” permission) can change roles in the Team page. We prevent dangerous moves when they would lock the whole team out of billing or leave no one with access.
- If you demote yourself and lose access, another owner or admin has to promote you back—support cannot bypass real owner intent without the proper account validation.
If you are the only person on the team
You are still an owner (or the role you set). Add a second owner for emergencies only if you trust them—families, communities, and companies all benefit from a backup.
